About the Journal

The Journal of the Federal Regional Court of the 3rd Region was launched in 1990 as an official repository of the Court's case law. Later, legal articles by members of the Court and external collaborators were added to the publication.

Over the course of its more than 30 years in print, the publication has undergone several transformations in order to continue satisfactorily fulfilling its institutional mission. In the beginning, the Journal existed only in printed form and with a limited circulation. It then went on to have a CD-ROM version and then online content.

In 2023, the journal underwent an internal restructuring process to make it available through the OJS platform, aligning itself with national and international standards of quality and scientific rigor, including committing to strict ethical guidelines through the adoption of a "code of conduct" for all parties involved in the publication.

As far as the "editorial line" is concerned, the Journal's content includes the publication of unpublished scientific articles, with a special focus on Law applied to Federal Jurisdiction, without prejudice to themes relating to other branches of Law and related interdisciplinary Human Sciences. In addition, the Journal is an official repository of the case law of the TRF of the 3rd Region, and therefore has sections for the publication of relevant judgments, decisions and sentences.

Those interested in submitting material for publication should access the Journal's website, register on the OJS platform and attach the file. It is important to note that the flow of "submitting" articles for publication is continuous and completely free of charge.

All the material received goes through a desk review carried out by the Journal's Office team to check that it meets the mandatory formal requirements established by the Editorial Board, which are listed in the sections on "conditions for submission" and "guidelines for authors".

Once the requirements of the preliminary stage have been met, the evaluation process begins using the double-blind peer review system, through which reviewers will analyze the material in order to recommend whether or not it should be published, as described in detail in the section on the "evaluation process".

Currently, the Journal is published every six months and has only an electronic version. Its target audience is not only judges and civil servants of the Judiciary, but also the legal-scientific community in general, including members of other public institutions, lawyers, as well as teachers and students in legal courses and other related areas.

Therefore, with the aim of broadening the dissemination of content, the Journal offers free and immediate access to its collection, following the principle that making scientific knowledge available to the public free of charge provides greater democratization.
