Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • At least one author must have a PhD, and authorship of the article can be shared between a maximum of three co-authors.
  • Submission of the material on the platform implies a tacit declaration by the authors guaranteeing: a) ownership of the copyright, being exclusively responsible for any claims related to such rights; b) the unpublished nature of the article in Brazil; c) the originality of the content, respecting the provisions of Law no. 9. 610/1998, duly citing all publications relevant to the preparation of the article submitted to the Journal, aware that plagiarism, in all its forms, constitutes unethical and unacceptable editorial behavior, the sole responsibility of the author; d) the absence of any infringement of academic ethics.
  • The theme of the article must be in line with the "Editorial Line" of the Journal, with preference given to subjects related to the Federal Courts.
  • The article must be an original and unpublished contribution in Brazil. In addition, the article must not be under evaluation for publication by another journal.
  • If the article involves research with human beings or animals, it must be accompanied by a statement proving that all procedures have been carried out in compliance with the relevant laws and institutional guidelines and that the appropriate institutional committees have approved them.
  • If there is any funding or receipt of funds from commercial or non-commercial sources, it must be reported in the specific fields of the online system, as well as declaring that there is no conflict of interest that would compromise the work presented.
  • The submission file must be formatted in Microsoft Word 97 or higher (".doc" or ".docx" file), observing the style standards and bibliographic requirements described in the "Guidelines for Authors", especially with regard to ABNT standards (NBR 6022, 6023, 6028, NBR 10520), using the "author-date" citation system and a word count between 4,000 (four thousand) and 15,000 (fifteen thousand), with the exception of footnotes and references.
  • Authors should take care to eliminate any identification of authorship from the submitted file. Elements such as a mini-resume, a footnote with qualifications or a reference to a previously published work should not be included in the body of the text. In addition, the identification of the author of the work must be removed from the file's properties.
  • Submission implies tacit authorization to publish the material under the Creative Commons License - Attribution 4.0 International - CC BY 4.0, free of charge and without limitations as to term, territory or any other, as well as permission to make the necessary adjustments to meet the styles of the journal's graphic design and ensure respect for the cultured norm of the Portuguese language.

Author Guidelines

Articles must be presented in accordance with the guidelines set out in REVS Ordinance No. 13/2024 and ABNT standards, especially NBR 6022 (article in periodical publication) and other related standards: NBR 6023 (references); NBR 6028 (abstract); NBR 10520 (citations).

METADATA: When submitting the article, the metadata must be filled in completely, in accordance with the following guidelines, otherwise the submission will be rejected outright.

Authorship: Indication of the authors' full names, inserted in the order in which they should appear in the publication.

E-mail address: Indication of the e-mail address of each of the authors, which will be disclosed in the published version of the article.

ORCID iD: Indication of the ORCID identification number of each of the authors.

URL: Indication of a link to the lattes curriculum of each of the authors.

Institution/Affiliation: Indication of the main institutional affiliation or the two main ones, if the link with both is of equal importance. Affiliation refers to the institution to which the author is linked as a teacher or student. If the author is neither a teacher nor a student, the institution where he or she obtained the highest academic degree (doctorate, master's, specialization) should be informed. The name of the institution should appear in full and in its original language, followed by the country of origin in brackets. If the author is a teacher and is studying for a master's or doctorate at another institution, the main affiliation will be that of the institution at which the author is studying for a master's or doctorate.

Country: Indication of the country of each author's main institutional affiliation.

Biography: Mini-résumé of each author, starting with the institution where they are a professor, with reference to the respective city, state and country in brackets, followed by an indication of their academic qualifications (starting with the highest) and their other links to scientific associations and their profession.

Title: Indicated in Portuguese and English, with only the first letter of the sentence capitalized, containing up to ten words.

Abstract: In Portuguese and English, following the guidelines of ABNT NBR 6028. Its structure should include four parts: object (what it is about); objective (what it aims to achieve); method (type of research or textual structure); and conclusion (results achieved). It should contain between 100 and 250 words, composed of a sequence of concise sentences, arranged in a single paragraph, preferably using the verb in the active voice and in the third person singular, without citations or references.

Keywords: Indication of up to five terms in Portuguese and English, in lowercase letters.

Language: Indication of the acronym corresponding to the language of the article (Portuguese=en).

Funding: Indication of the sources of funding for the research, if applicable.

References: Indication of the complete list of references cited in the article, with a space between each one.

TEXTUAL STRUCTURE: The text should be structured with an introduction, development, final considerations and references to the sources consulted. The introduction will contain the justification, the objectives of the work and emphasize the relevance of the topic investigated. The development should cover the discussion and/or analysis of the hypotheses presented, with adequate bibliographic support. The final considerations should concisely state the answer to the proposed objectives.

FORMATTING: Submitted work should contain a minimum of 4,000 (four thousand) and a maximum of 15,000 (fifteen thousand) words, excluding footnotes and references, and be presented as follows:

Size: A4 paper;

Margins: top and left - 3 cm; bottom and right - 2 cm;

Font: Times New Roman, size 12 (twelve);

Spacing: single line, no space before or after;

Paragraph: justified with a 1.25 cm indent on the first line.

The topics should be numbered progressively, identified with Arabic numerals, from the introduction to the final considerations, and the development may be subdivided at the author's discretion.

All highlighting should be done using italics, including for foreign words, and bold should only be used for headings and subheadings.

Quotations containing up to three lines should be enclosed in quotation marks, in the body of the text, without the use of italics; quotations that exceed three lines should appear in their own paragraph, indented by 4 (four) cm, font size 10 (ten), without quotation marks, according to the guidelines of ABNT NBR 10520 (items 5.2 and 5.3).

Quotations in a foreign language must be translated, with the passage in the original language indicated in a footnote.

All quotations must be referenced, preceded or followed by the author's surname(s), year of publication and page, according to the author/date system, as established in ABNT NBR 10520 (item 6.3).

Whenever possible, footnotes should be avoided. They should only be used if they are essential for presenting concepts and explanations that cannot be included in the body of the text. It is recommended that footnotes are not too numerous or too long.

References should only be those actually used in the article, which will be listed at the end of the text, in alphabetical order, according to ABNT NBR 6023.

IMPORTANT: Papers that do not meet these guidelines will be returned to the author(s) for adjustments before being sent for double-blind peer review. Therefore, in order to speed up the process, it is recommended to check all the guidelines in detail before submission.
